Could You’ll Never Walk Alone top the charts again?

Liverpool FC fans, marshalled on the club’s official Web site Liverpoolfc.tv, have launched a campaign to get Gerry and the Pacemakers’ classic recording of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to the top of the British single charts.

The campaign follows the restructuring of the chart to allow download sales to be reflected in the official top 40. “We believe that only 2,500 sales are required to enter the charts,” explained a spokesman for the campaign. “However, around 40,000 sales should easily allow us to reach number one. That’s the target and we are convinced it can be done. It’s a great song and the tradition of the Kop deserves nothing less.”

The fans behind the project are calling on Liverpool supporters to have one less pint before the game and download the song instead. Enquiries from the media can be posted on the LFC message board at http://forums.liverpoolfc.tv/Forum15/HTML/139791.html.
